How Daysafe counts your days — in detail.
Where each day comes from, what counts as a day, how every rule is calculated, and what happens when data is missing. Nothing here is hidden in the app either: every day and every number can be opened and explained.
Where your days come from
Three sources fill your calendar, and Daysafe fills in the obvious days between them. Your own edit always wins.
Anything you enter or correct. It always wins for that day. Remove your edit and the automatic record comes back.
Allow “Always” and Daysafe notes the country — and the U.S. state — as you move. The coordinates are turned into a place on your iPhone and deleted right after.
For trips before you installed the app: the place and date of photos on this phone. You review the trips found before anything is added. Nothing is uploaded.
A day between two known days in the same place. Marked as filled, so you always see it wasn’t recorded directly.
What counts as a day
A day counts for every place you were in during any part of it. That is how the Schengen rule and most U.S. states count, and it’s the cautious choice.
When a day is missing
Phones run out of battery and location gets switched off. Daysafe never guesses a day into a rule.
Each rule, and how it’s counted
Every rule card shows the same three things: the number, the date to act on, and the method in small print. The rule screen links to the official source and, where we have verified it, the date we checked.
Status colours: green — more than 14 days and more than 15 % left; orange — 14 days or 15 % or less; red — over. Each status also has a word, so colour is never the only signal.
Planning a trip
For Schengen, two questions on one screen.
54 of 90 used before you arrive
Schengen 90/180 · rolling window · assumes no break
Show it at the border
One tap opens a large, high-contrast Schengen screen: days used, days left, and your trips in the current window with dates. Works without internet.
It’s your own record, not an official document — the officer’s count is what applies.
The report for your tax professional
Choose this year, last year or any dates. The report covers all your rules.
Reminders and widgets
Each reminder has a date and an action. They’re local notifications from your iPhone, and one switch in Settings turns them off.
To stay within 90/180, leave the Schengen Area by Tue, Nov 17.
14, 7 and 1 day before the date to leave.
If you stay, you reach the limit on Wed, Dec 2.
30, 14 and 7 days before a day-count limit.
3 days need a quick check. It takes a few seconds.
Sundays, only if some days are unknown.
Widgets: small (one rule), medium (two rules) and a lock-screen widget — the number plus the date to act on.
What we store, and where
Your travel history is the most personal data a phone has. We keep as little of it as we can, and only on your devices.
What’s free and what’s paid
